O que é Cultura?

Há muitas definições de cultura, mas gosto de falar de uma em especial: a cultura efetua uma transformação na vida das pessoas no sentido de ampliar seu leque de escolhas e, assim, de aumentar sua liberdade. Isso significa que não há uma substância chamada “cultura” e portanto o que é cultura para uma pessoa, pode não o ser para outra. O importante, então, é que também não há uma acumulação de cultura, pela qual alguém se torna dono dela, ou seja, possui “mais” cultura do que outro indivíduo. A cultura abre a porta de imaginários que, por sua vez, constroem novas vidas. O menino confinado entre vacas e cavalos que se descobre homossexual, o favelado que percebe seu dom para a música, estão abrindo novos rumos para si mesmos.
